The Queensland Government today announced that the GoldLinQ consortium has been short-listed to continue in the tender process for the Gold Coast Rapid Transit project.

GoldLinQ consortium members Downer Group, Keolis, Bombardier, McConnell Dowell and Plenary Group collectively provide the design, delivery and financing of major, high-profile transport infrastructure projects around the world. The operations provider is the Keolis Downer EDI Rail (KDR) joint venture, which is currently operating the Victorian Government’s Yarra Trams franchise.

GoldLinQ Project Director, Kieran Street, said the consortium was thrilled to have reached the next stage in the process and was looking forward to further demonstrating its capabilities and experience to the Gold Coast Rapid Transit project team and the people of Queensland.

“We are very pleased to be moving forward in the tender process,” Mr Street said.

As an operator-led consortium, GoldLinQ will utilise KDR’s proven operational expertise, in particular its passenger-focused approach which it has successfully implemented throughout the world.

“We believe GoldLinQ’s combined experience brings together the world’s foremost leaders in the design, procurement, delivery, operations, maintenance and financing of light rail transport systems. In particular, Downer and Bombardier’s strong history in the design and manufacture of narrow-gauge passenger trains for south-east Queensland.”

“We look forward to working with Gold Coast Rapid Transit project team and other stakeholders as part of the bid phase to demonstrate that GoldLinQ can provide exceptional customer service and the innovation to deliver an affordable world-class transport solution for Queensland,” he said.
