The Downer EDI Mining Vacation Student Scheme
Students on our Vacation Scheme are offered the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience of a variety of operations and divisions of Downer EDI Mining throughout Australia. The scheme provides you with a realistic look at what it’s like to work for Downer EDI Mining, while allowing you to gain hands-on experience.
This program is a “stepping stone” for our annual intake of graduates. You can undertake vacation work over the summer semester each year of your degree course until it is completed. If you prove yourself suitable, you will be chosen to join our Graduate Program.
The scheme provides you with a good opportunity to develop networks with industry professionals, to further your knowledge, skills and career development, and receive constructive feedback on your performance during your time on site.
We offer vacation work in the following disciplines:
- Mining Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Surveying
- Human Resources
- Commercial/Finance
Vacation work is conducted over a 12-week period from the beginning of December until the end of February. However, where available and depending upon site requirements, we may offer positions in the June/July break.
